Carry the voice into another language

Editorial translation needs to preserve both information and the way it is expressed. We work with publishers and media teams on written content, using the publication’s style, audience and editorial brief to guide tone, terminology and the handling of quoted material.

What matters in your work

Distinguish the author from the quoted voice

Provide source attribution and instructions for quotations, titles and established translations. We flag ambiguous references and preserve the distinction between a narrator’s statement and another person’s words. Editorial fact-checking remains a separately assigned responsibility.

Plan for the production stage

A headline may need adaptation for space; a book may need a terminology sheet across chapters. Confirm how edits are reviewed and whether a proof after layout is included. Late source changes should be clearly marked to avoid competing versions.

Preparing your project

What to include in your brief

  • The manuscript or article and all included captions or headlines.
  • House style, audience, tone examples and quotation instructions.
  • Rights or attribution constraints, production format and review schedule.

We review the material before confirming scope, delivery format, price and timing. Allow time for your team’s own approval process as well.

Example brief

A project in your context

A feature package could include the article, headline, image captions and a newsletter excerpt. Translating the package together preserves names and tone while adapting each element to its space.

A clearly defined scope

Translation does not transfer publication rights, verify every factual claim or provide legal clearance for quoted material.

Tell us about confidentiality, format or approval requirements before sharing your documents.

Your questions, answered

Can you preserve an author’s style?

Share representative work and describe what matters about the voice. We can assess a sample and agree the level of stylistic adaptation before the full assignment.

Does the work include proofreading after design?

Only if included in the scope. Supply the final laid-out version and allow a separate review stage for typography, captions and text placement.
